Environmental Benefits

More energy hits the earth in one hour than used in one year. Aside from harnessing energy that is clean, abundant and 100% renewable solar energy has many environmental benefits including:

When solar electricity replaces the usage of conventional fossil and nuclear fuels, the environment benefits from the reduction in emissions and radioactive compounds, our production facility’s annual output will eliminate emissions over the lifetime of our solar modules equivalent to:

  • 9,610,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
  • 36,100 tons of sulfur dioxide.
  • 33,400 tons of nitrous oxides.
  • 1,100 kg of arsenic.
  • 9 kg of cadmium (whereas other processes produce cadmium as a waste product, we use it for our modules).

Our modules feature a 15–month energy payback period.

We use NO nitrogen trifluoride in our manufacturing process and utilize less than 20 percent of the energy required to produce crystalline silicon panels.

The energy produced by our modules over their lifetime is equivalent to that of 2.6 million tons of coal, 2.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 198 tons of uranium.

Overall Environmental Benefits of Solar

Aside from harnessing energy that is clean, abundant and 100% renewable (at least until the sun becomes a red giant in about 5 billion years), solar energy has in general many additional benefits, including:

  • Solar modules capture sunlight, a free source of electricity, which quickly begins to pay for itself.
  • Solar modules give off no pollution.
  • Production of solar energy is quiet.
  • Solar modules can be installed on top of many rooftops. Unlike wind turbines, they don’t require large amounts of space.
  • PV modules are durable and require very little maintenance.
  • The use of solar energy to produce electricity allows the user to become less dependent on fossil fuels.
